Christmas Classics”, truly a building block in the foundation of the Cumming Playhouse. First presented on stage in 2004, “Christmas Classics” has held fast to its vision of reclaiming and nurturing Cumming’s hometown Christmas Spirit based on the belief that an arts community is built strongest at the grassroots level.
The producers of “Christmas Classics”, LCS Productions, LLC, has at its helm three experienced and well-trained musical powerhouses; Jeanie Lipscomb, Marianna Carroll and Gloria Szokoly each accomplished in their own right in the field of music. This year’s show is directed by Mary Claire Klooster.
Each year’s show is new and different spotlighting accomplished local talent. The 14th annual Christmas Classics is proud to feature the St. Cecelia Singers of the Church of the Good Shepherd, here in Cumming, as a pivotal part of this season’s presentation in the second segment of the show. The choir is directed by Nancy Smith.
Saint Cecilia is the patroness of musicians. It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she "sang in her heart to the Lord". Her feast day is celebrated in the Latin Catholic, Eastern Catholic, Anglican, and Eastern Orthodox churches on November 22. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin, commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.
The first half of the show will provide for your Christmas Classic enjoyment an array of talented instrumentalists and vocalists. Please make your plans to be with us on Friday December 15 @ 8 PM as we continue to hold the true meaning of Christmas, delicately and as a precious gifted treasure.
